Thank you for your interest in the Netmums Helping with Depression Programme.
The Mood Disorders Centre at the University of Exeter and Netmums are offering a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme designed specifically for postnatal depression. The programme is offered for 12 weeks and is also supported over the telephone by trained telephone supporters. These support sessions are fully confidential and can be held at a time to suit you, which includes evenings and weekends.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been shown to help people suffering from depressed and anxious moods and is recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) for postnatal mood difficulties.
However, it can be very difficult to access psychological therapy – especially when we have a young child, or children, to care for.
Online therapies can improve women's ability to access therapy. Our previous research on this programme has shown it to be effective for postnatal depression. We have further updated and enhanced our existing programme by working alongside mums who have previously used the programme and experienced postnatal depression. We are examining whether this improved programme provides better benefits for mums.
Recruitment for the study has now closed, therefore we are no longer accepting new mums onto the programme.
Sorry for any disappointment this may cause.
However, if you are interested in finding out more about the study you can get more information by emailing Netmums.HelpingStudy@exeter.ac.uk or phoning 01392 726323.
